FOUNDATION
CERTIFICATE IN FOOD HYGIENE
INTRODUCTION
This is a first level qualification in food hygiene and is nationally
recognised in all food businesses. Intended for anyone at work it is an
essential first qualification for anyone handling high-risk foods.
PROGRAMME
A minimum of six hours training covers:-

is food hygiene?
- Food
and disease
- How
food is contaminated
- Preventing
food poisoning
- Cleaning
the workplace
- Personal
hygiene
- Food
storage
- Safe
food preparation
- Design
of food premises
- Waste
and pest control
TEACHING
METHOD
Tutor lead with OHP, visual aids and video. Delegates are encouraged to
participate in group activities and questions are positively welcomed.
A course handbook is supplied for each delegate.
CERTIFICATE
Several examination boards offer compatible courses. As well as our own
ISI course we can offer the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
course or the Royal Institute of Public Health courses.
The
Certificate is awarded to candidates who have completed the course and
the final assessment satisfactorily. The final assessment is usually by
a 30 minute multi-choice tick-box examination (papers in several languages
or an oral option are available by prior arrangement).
Following
the examination the Tutor usually provides immediate feedback to the students.
